Building a Better Borough - a small authority, with BIG values.

We are an ambitious and transformative authority, committed to ensuring our services are delivered to the highest possible standard and we put the customer at the forefront of everything we do.  We are a diverse borough and many of our residents face differing challenges; however through our development of innovative and tailored services, we are well placed to meet them. This is exemplified in our shared relationship with our neigh-bours North Warwickshire Borough Council, on a number of services including housing, revenues and our outstanding election services.

We value the importance of our election and democratic services and the positive impacts these have for our borough and many of its partners. Democracy is vital to ensure our constituents have the opportunity to have their say and participating in local government decision making and politics. As part of our continued commitment, we are looking to find our next Election and Democratic Services Manager.

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Democracy & Governance (Monitoring Officer), you will provide strategic leadership of the elections and democratic services for NBBC, and a shared management arrangement with North Warwickshire Borough Council (NWBC) in leading their election functions. You will also hold direct responsibility to our Chief Executives, serving as Deputy Returning Officer in the management and conducting of our local and national elections.

Managing a small, dynamic, innovative and capable team this is an opportunity to work with passionate and approachable senior officers, Members and our residents. Should you wish to also undertake the optional role of Deputy Monitoring Officer, there is the enviable prospect to further develop your skillset and career pathway here; with an additional remuneration attached to this.

In return, we are seeking a suitably AEA certified professional, who holds extensive experience of having delivered elections, managing both the internal and external resources associated to deliver a seamless full-cycle process. You will also possess excellent leadership and advisory skills across all levels of the organisation and with the general public. Experience in managing a democratic support service is desirable.

We understand the importance of an effective work-life balance, therefore offer an exceptional agile working approach, managed effectively around business need. Alongside  staff benefits, local government pension scheme and generous annual leave (including Christmas closedown), Nuneaton & Bedworth are a well-deserved employer of choice.

A role like this does not appear often, less so, for two authorities who are equally passionate about their place, committed to their workforce and value the impact they make upon their communities. We’re delighted that you’re interested in this role and welcome a conversation ahead of an application.
