The Enforcement Conduct Board is the independent oversight body for the enforcement sector in England and Wales. Our mission is to ensure that enforcement practices are fair, accountable, and sensitive to the needs of people in vulnerable circumstances. We work to improve standards, promote transparency, and build public trust in the enforcement process.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to influence the direction of a dynamic and forward-looking regulator, dedicated to promoting fairness, transparency, and accountability in enforcement practices. As a member of the ECB Board, you will play a key role in setting our strategic direction and guiding decisions on policy, operations, and organisational development.

Working in close partnership with the Chair and Chief Executive, you will contribute to strong, effective leadership and governance. You will contribute to defining our goals, shaping our strategy, and monitoring our progress—ensuring the ECB delivers a meaningful and lasting impact.

In this role, you'll also serve as a visible ambassador for our mission and values, both internally and across our wider networks. We are looking for individuals who bring strategic acumen, integrity, and a collaborative spirit—people who can listen openly, challenge constructively, and engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.

We especially welcome applicants who bring a strong commitment to public service, paired with a pragmatic approach to delivering impact. If you bring clear insight, sound judgment, and a passion for making a difference, we encourage you to apply. Across the two roles, we will be looking to ideally appoint individuals with the experience of one of these areas:

  • The enforcement industry
  • Debt advice or poverty and financial exclusion
  • Developing a small business or organisation of a similar size to the ECB
  • Public and government relations

We are committed to building a diverse Board that reflects the communities we serve. We encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds.
