Be at the centre of something special.

Surrey is a County on a mission – to ensure no one is left behind. Our vision is to support all our residents to have a great start in life, for people to live healthy and fulfilling lives, and for everyone to achieve their full potential. Right now there are big and exciting opportunities for us to radically rethink how services can be delivered so that all of our children and young people are seen and heard, feel safe, and can grow to achieve these ambitions.

Director of Commissioning for Transformation | salary up to £119k

In order to build capacity for transformation and drive positive change for all those that need our services, we are looking for a Director of Commissioning for Transformation to join the Children, Families and Lifelong Learning Leadership Team.

This role will be fundamental in driving the transformational change we need. The focus of your role will be to reduce inequalities and improve outcomes right across the County, enabling best practice and excellence in service delivery to flourish. You will draw on all of our available resources, plus the capacity and capabilities of our partners, communities, and residents to bring about positive change and achieve lasting impact.

In leading the delivery of our integrated commissioning and contracts strategy, you will build on our already strong partnership and relationship with Surrey Heartlands and Frimley ICSs, working collaboratively to transform service delivery across our county. With our partners, you will enable greater multi-disciplinary working and multi-skilled roles and will pilot new models of assessment and intervention.

To achieve true transformation, we need to think and do differently. We are definitely not looking for ‘Business As Usual’.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for an experienced senior manager with real leadership drive and a boundless enthusiasm for achieving better outcomes. Whether or not you have led a commissioning function, you will have been heavily involved in service design through to delivery at scale. Your passion for improving the lives of children, young people, and their families will be a stand out feature in your career to date.

Surrey is a big place, and this is a leadership role not only for our council, but also for our place. Your experience of working in large and complex environments will support your transition into this busy and significant position, where you will showcase your ability to build and maintain excellent working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders across the county.

Leaders in Surrey are open, honest and transparent. We work together in a spirit of high support and high challenge to achieve our aims. Above all, we care deeply about what we do every day. We set consistently high standards and through mutual respect, support our staff to be the best versions of themselves. If you want to be at the forefront of bold new work, innovate with partners across countywide services, and work for a Council which is totally committed to improve children’s lives then we’d love to hear from you.
