Sirona care & health covers Bristol, North Somerset, and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG), and provides community health and social care services to a population of almost 1 million adults and children. We employ more than 3,500 staff, who all take pride in what we do and deliver a high standard of care that we would expect for ourselves and our families.

At Sirona, we continue to build an inclusive culture that encourages, supports, and celebrates the diverse voices of colleagues, service users and communities. We are a not-for-profit social enterprise, who are funded by the NHS and local authorities (NHS care is free at the point of delivery).

This is an exciting time to join the organisation following our impressive partnerships of healthcare providers in recent years and our new Deputy Chief Operating Officer will help shape the culture of our business. In collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders, you will develop the long-term vision and strategy for patient care, as well as lead on the enhanced integration of our services within the organisation and with our health and care partners across the BNSSG area. The Deputy Chief Operating Officer will be expected to operate as a pivotal member of the operational Senior Management Team and the organisation’s wider Senior Leadership team by monitoring performance and reviewing the impact across the organisation.

As the postholder you will be expected to act independently, taking timely and at times, highly significant decisions to ensure operational delivery, troubleshooting, attaining, and exceeding key performance indicators and leading significant projects across the organisation and local system. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, key duties will include:

  • Managing the operational delivery plan within the Chief Operating Officer’s budget and delivering against cost saving plans in each of the Chief Operating Officer’s areas as required.
  • Providing exemplary leadership to support the development of Sirona’s culture at every operational level and ensure the development of capabilities among Sirona’s senior operational management team.
  • Overseeing the delivery of the ongoing agenda on resilience and emergency planning, performance management and on call arrangements, and participating in the Emergency Planning on call rota.
  • Leading on the operational and strategic development of community services and performance targets.

We are seeking applications from people who can demonstrate effective competencies in ensuring the safe and cost-effective provision of quality adult and specialist health services that conform to CQC, safeguarding, clinical governance and other regulatory or statutory requirements across services within the span of the portfolio and developing a senior team and enabling the right operational culture. You will bring significant senior operational and leadership experience. With a track record of leading highly complex service improvement, you will be adept at developing high quality services, in partnership with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. Knowledge of the NHS and delivery of community health and social care services would be advantageous.

We value and promote diversity and are committed to equality of opportunity for all and appointments made on merit. We believe that the best leaders are those that reflect the communities they serve. We particularly welcome applications from women, people from the black and minority ethnic communities, and disabled people who we know are under-represented in senior leadership roles in our sector.
