This is without question one of the most exciting regeneration roles in local government, with the opportunity to oversee ambitious Levelling Up and Transforming Cities programmes, an exciting partnership with Homes England to deliver 3,000 new homes, delivery of a bespoke home for the Home Office, and a raft of other town centre, cultural and heritage projects. Stoke-on-Trent is host to an envious range of development opportunities. We are also delivering a major bus improvement plan and investment in active travel routes, and are transforming our use of energy to decarbonise the city. We are working hard to ensure development is sustainable and brings real social value to our residents and communities. On top of all that, we will be the home of the new Office for Place - further testament of our great work and recognition from Government.

We are looking for someone with the passion and drive to realise our ambition, leading opportunities for housing and commercial development, promoting regeneration, supporting the delivery of our vision and priorities for our city. You will work with colleagues and stakeholders, including development partners, government departments, regional and national bodies, and the commercial sector, helping to secure investment and funding to develop key strategic sites and locations around the city of Stoke-on-Trent. This role offers a unique opportunity to develop professionally, with our priorities being shaped by the political ambition of the Council’s leadership, the values and aims of the organisation and our communities.

We are looking for someone with a strong background in regeneration and investment in towns and city centres, new homes, commercial developments and new employment sites. Our new Assistant Director of Planning, Regeneration and Transport will be central to our transformation programme, taking a broad strategic view of how services are provided to develop plans which facilitate a balanced housing and commercial stock that provides choice, quality and affordability. To be successful in this role you will need to develop and deliver planning services, both development management and planning policies which can secure growth in the number of houses and commercial floor space available in the city, whilst developing a sustainable and green infrastructure. This includes a strong accent on affordable housing. We are open to all backgrounds and specialisms, but it is essential that you are experienced in planning and regeneration.

This is a great opportunity to deliver for the people, businesses and communities of Stoke-on-Trent, creating a city ready for the future. Come join Team Stoke!
