The Charity Commission is the registrar and regulator of charities in England and Wales. The oldest regulator in the world, we regulate approximately 5% of UK GDP and a sector of 170,000 registered Charities. The Commission has been on a positive journey of transformation over the past ten years and is well on its way to achieving our ambition of being an expert regulator that is fair, balanced and independent, which we shall continue with the delivery of a new 5-year strategy. At a time when our sector’s work is becoming increasingly critical to society, our profile and ambition continues to grow, with the level of scrutiny we enjoy doing likewise. This is an exciting time to join the Commission, with a strong foundation and opportunities to sharpen and improve an already well performing organisation.

We are now seeking a new Chief Executive to lead the organisation through this next critical period. You will be responsible for the performance, capability and culture of organisation, continuing to ensure that our people and processes enable us to delivery effective results in a timely manner. You will work closely with a wide range of external stakeholders, representing the Commission’s work to the public, to the sector and to Parliament to ensure that we have the confidence and partnerships we need to succeed. This is a prominent, challenging, and exciting leadership role within England and Wales, giving you the ability to make your mark by successfully delivering our purpose, introducing improvements, and making sure we maximise the value of our work.

You will be an accomplished senior leader with a track record of providing influential and inspirational leadership as a Chief Executive or equivalent. Comfortable engaging with stakeholders within government and across an array of other sectors you will have experience of developing, maintaining and leveraging a wide range of relationships to drive positive outcomes. You will be a capable strategic thinker able to inspire and motivate a diverse and high performing organisation, as well as being an excellent communicator to varied audiences. Your ability to quickly grasp a complex regulatory environment, and an organisation carrying out high volume casework and investigations, is also critical.
