Description

Transforming services for a vibrant community

We are working with our communities to create an improved, more equal and sustainable future for the people of Torfaen.  To support our modern and innovative solutions, we have a dynamic transformation programme to deliver the council’s aspirations.  We expect our new Head of Transformation and Improvement to lead the development and oversee the delivery of our visionary programme.

As a core member of the Council’s Leadership Team, your primary role will be to drive forward the council’s transformation programme. In addition, it is expected that you will act as a key advisor to the Chief Executive and Assistant Chief Executive on the strategic direction of the Council and lead the development of the corporate planning, business planning and performance management arrangements. You will also lead the effective delivery of a range of services and activities that include the communications, administration and elections services.

We are looking for a strong, innovative leader with significant management experience in a large complex organisation. A passion for change, redesign and the transformation of services, along with an understanding of alternative delivery models.  You should have a successful record of running a range of diverse functions, although not necessarily within a local government setting.  Able to simplify complexity, you will also have the ability to lead from the front and build great relationships across a variety of stakeholders. You will need to be able to convince us that you have truly delivered results within the context of similar large scale programmes.
