Over the past 10 years, Independent Age has been through a major transformation. We’ve moved from operating as a benevolent trust, to establishing ourselves as a charity that provides impact at scale for older people. We’ve successfully re-engineered our core service offering, developed our profile in thought leadership, and begun to build an evidence base through policy, research and media. We are already punching above our weight and are incredibly proud of the successes we have achieved so far. Last year, 1 million people accessed our services.
Our plan is to significantly accelerate the number of people who get and give support through Independent Age. However, the opportunity doesn’t just lie in increasing volume, but in developing ways to build meaningful engagement with our key audiences. In order to seize this opportunity and help us turn this vision into a reality, we have brought together the key functions that drive the public to Independent Age - Marketing, Communications and Fundraising – and taken the bold step of building a brand new Engagement Division, led by a new Engagement Management Team. Central to our new Engagement Vision is our ability to capitalise on digital and social channels and technologies to drive effective and sustainable customer engagement, experience and growth.
As part of these plans, we are building a brand new Digital department, and now seek a new Head of Digital to lead on its creation, development and delivery. You will be a key member of the Engagement Management Team, ensuring that Digital forms an integrated part of an effective wider programme of fundraising and engagement campaigns and activities which will help transform Independent Age’s public profile, influence and impact. This is a hugely exciting opportunity to be part of a brand new high-calibre senior team responsible for shaping and driving the public growth of a rapidly growing charity.
You will be truly inspired and energised by the opportunity to build a brand new sustainable Digital programme in a growth organisation with resources to invest and working to a universal, urgent and growing cause. You will bring your significant full-service (creative, strategic and technical) digital expertise, and an outstanding track record of driving step-change growth through digital. Your experience of working at a senior level cross-organisationally to significantly expand the digital capabilities of a public-facing organisation and embed a new digital culture, will be critical to this new chapter of Independent Age’s growth.
You will be a skilled strategic thinker and collaborator, able to simply convey complex digital terminology, adept at driving change through innovation and insight, and with the energy to inspire confidence and trust in others to deliver a clear and effective organisational digital vision. You will also be a personable, energetic, collaborative and resilient digital leader, driven to seek out digital opportunities, apply creative thinking and problem solve to deliver innovation.
