A local authority in the South East are looking to appoint an interim Executive Director of Neighbourhoods, Communities & Housing for a period of 6 months; having accountability for assessing local housing and community needs, and ensuring availability and delivery of a full range of services. Implementation and improvement in standards of housing and customer satisfaction will be of the utmost importance.
The post holder will be expected to lead on the council's 'Prevent' agenda and the community safety partnership to reduce crime and disorder in the city, and in conjunction ensure the implementation of a robust and accountable framework for safeguarding. The authority are also looking to manage cultural change across the Neighbourhoods, Communities & Housing Directorate in the light of changing practices and give greater choice and control to individuals; improving and promoting local access and ownership and driving partnership working, which will be one of the core focus' of this role. The ideal candidate will cover the delivery of an integrated whole systems approach, including preventive and early intervention services to support communities, families and individuals, whilst reducing isolation, promoting social inclusion and wellbeing, and tackling inequalities. Deepening the understanding across all services of city demographics and the practical measures to address communities of interest and neighbourhoods in need will be at the core of some of the objectives of the role. The Executive Director of Neighbourhoods, Communities & Housing will also ensure that the authority complies with its statutory duties on Housing, under its legal frameworks.
