The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust is the main provider of hospital and adult community services to the populations of Dudley, significant parts of the Sandwell borough and communities in South Staffordshire and Wyre Forest. The first hospital trust in the area to be awarded Foundation Trust status in 2008, we provide a wide range of medical, surgical and rehabilitation services.

We serve a population of around 450,000 people from three hospital sites at Russells Hall Hospital, Guest Outpatient Centre in Dudley and Corbett Outpatient Centre in Stourbridge, providing the full range of secondary care services and some specialist services for the wider populations of the Black Country and West Midlands region. We also provides specialist adult community based care in patients’ homes and in more than 40 centres in the Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council community.

The Chief People Officer is a voting member of the Trust Board, accountable to the Chief Executive, providing professional advice to the Board, both strategically and in relation to the Trust’s responsibilities as an employer, the Chief People Officer will work with Board colleagues and other leaders to promote an environment that delivers the Trusts strategic goals, and specifically the growth of an expert and inclusive workforce.

Leading on education, leadership, and talent management you will work closely with the Executive Chief Nurse and Executive Medical Director to develop and support a diverse, capable, and multi-professional workforce, as well as embed a culture of quality improvement, clinical expertise, and compassion in meeting the needs of patients and service users.

You will be responsible for all aspects of the people and workforce agenda within the Trust. Working closely with our partners in the Black Country and West Birmingham Integrated Care System (ICS) including other NHS Trusts, local Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) and Local Authorities. As well as the regulators;  NHS Improvement/England and the Care Quality Commission.  

We are looking for an experienced and CIPD qualified leader who has operated at or near Board level in an NHS or other highly regulated complex public sector organisation. You will provide leadership to the People function and advise the Board on all people and workforce matters.
