The Royal Society of Medicine
Job Title: Head of Educational Programmes
Salary: Competitive
Location: Wimpole Street, London
Hours of work: 35 per week including core flexible working
The Royal Society of Medicine (RSM) is the largest provider of postgraduate medical educational programming in the UK with more than 380 continuing professional development programmes per year, created by a volunteer faculty of experts of over 1,000. Together, they form the core of the RSM’s ambitious and sweeping 3-year Educational Strategy, aimed at revolutionising the way professional education for doctors and allied healthcare professionals is created and delivered at the RSM, and future proofing this programming for the 21st century.
The Royal Society of Medicine’s mission is to improve health outcomes in the UK and beyond through education and innovation. The newly created Head of Educational Programmes will be a critical leadership role within the Learning department and will sit at the heart of this mission.
Reporting to the Director of Learning, the post holder will play a critical leadership role within the Learning department and the RSM overall, leading a team of Educational Programme Managers and the 13-strong Events team, to bring together the work with the RSM’s volunteer faculty to execute educational programmes with real impact.
The Head of Educational Programmes will work collaboratively with their peers (Head of Content, and Head of Library and Knowledge Services in Education, and Head of Marketing) and the Dean of the RSM and Director of Learning, to establish critical KPIs around impact and delivery of educational initiatives and programming, and provide the platform on which to build the next steps on innovation and e-learning for the digital age.
The RSM’s educational faculty and programme content is led by medical specialty-focused Sectional Presidents and Councils, of which there are 50+, drawn from across the medical specialties and healthcare professions and includes the majority of the UK’s experts in those fields, so working with this roster of senior-level volunteers will be critical, as will excellence in programme execution, and core innovation in educational content.
If you feel you have the skills and expertise we are looking for then we would be delighted to hear from you. The Society values diversity and welcomes applications from candidates from all sections of the community.
