We are embarking on an ambitious new digitally-enabled transformation programme, one that will touch every aspect of Defence to release the full potential of the organisation – delivering the military capability needed for the defence of the UK and our wider interests and doing so at best value for money.
This newly created position will lead a coherent strategic transformation with a focus on clear priorities. Responsible for designing, driving and coordinating the strategic transformation portfolio to simplify and maximise the scope for automation of back office functions. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer you will have regular engagement with Ministers, senior leaders across Whitehall, Chief of Defence Staff and the key civilian and military leaders across a diverse range of stakeholders. The precise size and shape of the team continues to evolve, but the scale of opportunity and impact is significant.
The challenge is a significant one. We are looking for a leader that will bring a track record of delivering change within a large scale and comparably complex environment with a clear strength in creating a vision and strategy that takes people with you. An understanding of the Government environment will be a significant advantage, but it is your ability to lead, engage and build confidence with a wide range of stakeholders and ultimately deliver that will set you apart in this field. There is a significant level of support for this programme and approach and with the right leaders we will be able to ensure a positive outcome.
