At Gentoo, our vision is to become the best provider of social homes in the country. Are you ready for your first or next Independent Committee Member role and help us achieve our vision?

Rooted in Sunderland, we are a values-led organisation and we’re proud of our strong social purpose and bold ambition. We’re investing £600 million in our existing homes, building more new homes than ever before, and embracing technology to improve services. We achieved the highest C1 regulatory grading in Consumer Standards and are committed to making sure our customers are at the heart of everything we do. But we know bricks and mortar are just the beginning - we’re here to make a real difference.

About the Role
Our Risk and Audit Committee plays a vital role in ensuring robust governance, effective controls, and strong assurance across Gentoo. As an Independent Committee Member, you’ll help us identify and manage emerging risks, provide objective oversight of audit programmes and monitor financial integrity. Your insight will support healthy challenge and ensure we deliver on our purpose with transparency and accountability.

What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for someone with proven strategic experience in risk, health and safety, assurance, or governance – ideally gained at senior or board level. You’ll have a strong understanding of what good governance looks like in a regulated environment and the ability to interpret complex information to make sound, balanced decisions. Independence, curiosity, and confidence in asking challenging questions are essential. Combining your technical expertise with strategic insight and a collaborative approach, you’ll also appreciate the relevance and impact of organisation-wide agendas.

If you can help us deliver our purpose of giving people warm, safe and decent homes in thriving communities, we’d love to hear from you.
