The Royal Institute of British Architects is a global professional membership body driving excellence in architecture. With a Royal Charter, we serve our members and society to deliver better buildings and places, stronger communities and a sustainable environment. Being inclusive, ethical, environmentally aware and collaborative underpins all that we do.

Our purpose is to make the future a better place, advancing architecture and the built environment for the benefit of society. We do this by championing and celebrating excellence in design, fostering innovation, promoting sustainability, influencing governments, and increasing access to our important profession. We also advocate for the highest standards of professionalism and ethical conduct.

As an organisation, we are on our own business improvement journey. Pursuing far-reaching business change through our House of Architecture programme, we are reinforcing our identity as an outward-looking cultural institution, investing in our world class collection (RIBA is a registered museum), our digital capability, and our London base to help us promote deeper understanding and appreciation of architecture among a diverse audience and celebrate our members' work.

We now seek to appoint four new Independent Trustees equipped to make an important contribution to our progress, informing decision making through the application of subject matter expertise whilst providing strategic challenge and oversight as a substantive RIBA Board Member.  In this recruitment round, we are particularly interested in the following skills: Heritage and Culture, Business and Commercial (fully qualified accountant),People and Culture, and Marketing and Communications.

We are open to appointing first time Trustees, looking for candidates with experience (or a clear understanding of the requirements) of a non-executive role.  Prior experience of working in the built environment is not pre-requisite.  What you must bring is a genuine interest in our profession, current senior level subject matter expertise in one of the required disciplines, experience of influencing high-profile stakeholders and decision-makers, and a demonstrable commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.

If you have the skills and experience that can help us an important time for RIBA, we look forward to hearing from you.
