The Medicines Discovery Catapult (MDC) is part of a network of nine industry specific research and innovation centres established by Innovate UK to accelerate pioneering work, research and innovation, and to drive economic growth within the UK. To date the success of the Catapults has been in their ability to bring different sectors together around a shared ambition, and to operate at the nexus of sectors: industry, research, academia and government.

Based at Alderley Park, the MDC is a national facility and innovation centre, connecting the UK community to accelerate innovative drug discovery. We have a bold ambition to overcome and unlock barriers to successful medicines discovery; building mission-orientated communities to overcome sector challenges, bringing new treatments to patients faster. MDC brings together life sciences, academics, industry, charities and government agencies to collectively accelerate medicines discovery in the UK.

As a member of the Executive Team at MDC, the Chief Commercial Officer will be responsible for the development and delivery of our business development strategy, securing a sustainable pipeline of relevant commercial, charity and grant-funded projects that realise benefits for the MDC and our partners. You will develop and maintain vibrant external networks and foster strong, collaborative relationships with our stakeholders. You will also lead the marketing and communications functions at the MDC. This is an exciting time for the organisation, and you will play a key role in ensuring this unique institution continues to thrive.

We are seeking an effective, creative and efficient business leader with a track record of managing teams in a complex and dynamic life sciences business environment. You will have a demonstrable track record of strong commercial performance, with evidence of profitable in-year and long-term R&D contracts, and experience working with a range of academic, charity and industrial partners.

We are committed to broadening the diversity of the MDC across under-represented groups and welcome applications from Black, Asian, Minority, Ethnic minorities candidates.
