Digital Resourcing Case Study

How it came about

GatenbySanderson had been recruiting to senior level posts in the General Medical Council for around 18 months and as a forward-thinking client they had been one of the first that we had developed a microsite for, in support of their senior recruitment.

The brief

With the success of this site and the subsequent difficulties they had experienced around recruiting graduates, the General Medical Council briefed us to develop a bespoke website product for their graduate recruitment process. This would allow candidates to not only apply online but also to check the status of their application throughout the process.

What we did

After taking part in a thorough briefing process involving HR, the graduate recruitment team and recent graduate applicants who had since been recruited by the General Medical Council, we set about delivering the project.

The site was designed and developed to integrate with the General Medical Council’s database facilities, and to look creatively different from the main General Medical Council site.

What the client liked

The General Medical Council were particularly pleased with the homepage of the site, which featured an image of General Medical Council recruits dressed in medical clothing, but which showed them in general day-to-day clothes when the mouse moved over the image. This really appealed to the graduate marketplace and encouraged users to forward the site to their friends.

The Content Management System was also well received as it allows HR to produce status reports at every stage of the application process.

The outcome

A new site has been created that blends the corporate ideals of the General Medical Council with a creative approach aimed specifically at a difficult target audience. Further integration and targeting work may yet follow as the General Medical Council look to sharpen their web facilities for their wider recruitment needs.
