We are recruiting a Project Director to work into Kent and Medway to take forward the management of change and service transformation process required. In addition the postholder will work in partnership with a Clinical Director to lead and manage this service.

As well as excellent project and operational management skills, the postholder should be driven by the achievement of quality results and a commitment to partnership working.

Croydon children’s social care service is on a journey of transformation. We are creating a new model of social work and social work management that will make children’s lives better.

In this model:

We keep caseloads at a level where social workers can build relationships with families and do direct work.
We will be training our social workers in systemic family therapy so they have the tools to make change happen.
Through our new “Consultant Practitioner” roles in the social work units we will bring intensive support and reflective clinical supervision to social workers.
We will be reducing the amount of time social workers spend on administrative activity by introducing “Unit Co-ordinators” to the social work units.
We are introducing a salary framework that makes continuing practice in the front-line a real option.
We are establishing new relationships with a range of evidence-based services.

The Head of Safeguarding and Looked After Children Quality Assurance is a key role in our transformation journey with responsibility for driving an outcomes culture and approach to quality assurance methodology across all social care activity: child protection, looked after children and children in need. In this approach the aim is to find out the difference our practice is making to the lives of children and families, capturing their experiences of service impact and quality.
