Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council successfully serves a diverse set of communities across rural and urban areas, with a rapidly changing demography. We have a good track record for service delivery for which we have been judged as performing well overall, providing value for money and working effectively with Partners.

But there is much still to be done, and none more so than in adult social care where recent changes in local arrangements have brought an under-performing service back into the direct control of the Council. To assist in our priority improvement programme we have a People Directorate that brings together public health, children and adult functions so that there is a holistic and integrated approach to improvement in transformation, performance and productivity.

Within adult social care, in particular, resources and expertise are being re-combined and augmented through closer alignment with our corporate services across the authority, together with developing effective partnerships across health and the voluntary sectors. We have had a challenging journey and the transformation of our adult social care services needs to continue at a pace - because there’s more to come.

We are now looking for a credible and ambitious corporate leader who is keen to build on what has already been delivered. We will provide the challenge. You will bring a diverse range of experience and innovative thinking together with the grit and determination to deliver a complex range of services with fewer resources, in partnership, and to a high standard.
