The Sheffield City Region Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) is now recruiting for Private Sector Board Members.

As one of the UK's most successful Local Enterprise Partnerships, the Sheffield City Region LEP brings together business leaders and local politicians to make decisions that create substantial economic growth and real jobs.

The Sheffield City Region's economy has an output of £25 billion pounds per year and contains approximately 55,000 businesses. The area encompasses over 1.8 million people and 700,000 jobs.

The Government has recognised the importance of the Sheffield City Region to rebalancing the UK economy and is devolving powers and funding so economic decisions can be made at a local level.

The LEP is looking to recruit two Board Members from the private sector - a CEO, director or successful entrepreneur working in a sector which is driving the future economic growth of the City Region. Expertise in property and infrastructure, as well as finance and corporate services is particularly desirable.

Appointments will be made for up to 3 years, with an estimated commitment of 2-3 days per month.

The LEP is looking to ensure that Board membership reflects the diverse profile of the Sheffield City Region's population.

Employing 4800 people and with an annual turnover of approximately £275m, the Trust is a major teaching hospital of the University of Liverpool and has received signiﬁcant external recognition for quality of patient care and clinical excellence.

We are looking for two outstanding, highly motivated individuals to join our Board to drive forward the Trust's strategic development and performance, helping us achieve our aim of delivering high quality, safe patient care and - above all - placing patients at the heart of all we do. The ﬁrst Non-Executive Director should possess senior clinical experience either in an NHS or independent sector setting. The second Non-Executive Director should have signiﬁcant experience in business transformation or change management gained in either private or public sectors. For both roles we are seeking individuals with signiﬁcant board or senior management experience gained in organisations of similar size and complexity.

Both Non-Executive Directors will need to demonstrate:

a genuine interest in the local and national health agenda and commitment to NHS and public sector values
an ability to think strategically, challenge constructively and relate to individuals at all levels
political astuteness and a commitment to the local community

Candidates must reside in the North West of England and, ideally, reﬂect the diversity of our local population.

The Children’s Services Directorate comprises all Children’s Services based in the Great North Children’s Hospital on the Royal Victoria Infirmary site and is one of 12 national tertiary centres, has an international expertise in immunology and oncology and is the lead centre for Paediatric Intensive Care in the in the Northern Region.

As one of the Trust’s Directorate Managers the postholder will be accountable for the efficient and effective use of resources in delivering high quality patient centred primary care and public health services on behalf of the Trust, and provide leadership to achieve agreed performance targets.

This is a key operational role managing a large hospital service and supporting the Clinical Director, Professor Andrew Cant who, in addition to his Trust responsibilities, has international and national commitments. The role will require you to be familiar with business planning cycle and process, and able to maintain a close control on performance issues such as activity rates, income, budget management, MRSA and staffing.
