Lincolnshire primary school completes remarkable transformation

A school in Lincolnshire has completed a remarkable turnaround after being named in the top three per cent of schools in the country.

Just two years ago Millfield Primary Academy was ranked in the bottom 25 per cent of primary schools in the UK. However, under the stewardship of new head teacher Claire Fisher the academy has rose up to the top of the primary school league table.

Teachers and pupils alike celebrated the news which has seen the school's fortunes change dramatically. Following the creation of a new library, learning areas and a cyber café, the school received academy status in September 2011.

Ms Fisher told the Lincolnshire Echo: "The last two years have been a massive team effort and Millfield is a completely different school now.
We started on a journey of values and vision to ensure new technologies are embraced and our children develop the essential skills for this rapidly changing world."

It comes after a proposed free school in Breckland received approval from Michael Gove, secretary of state for education, to begin construction for the new educational facility.
