Keeping up to date with the latest professional developments is a challenge for anyone working within local authorities. However, for interim managers, this is an even bigger challenge. GatenbySanderson recently hosted the first in a series of planned webinars developed for our interim community to assist in their continual professional development.

The webinar was led by Professor Derek Gardiner, who has had an extensive career within social services, both within local and central government. Our key objective was to encourage debate from those interims working within adult services around the following key areas:

• personalisation in social services
• what seems to work and what are the challenges?
• transforming services – including partnership implications
• where next for personal social services?
